Abstract: This keynote examines the profound impact of digitalisation of the community care sector to improve the quality of care for residents as well as enhance productivity and efficiency. The collaboration among technology experts and community care organisations underscores the pivotal role of smart technologies such as remote monitoring, AI driven system, data analytics and human centred design to support direct care, care support and operations for the community care sector. Addressing potential barriers, the presentation also highlights the grants supporting innovative solutions for the community care sector.

Abstract:  Amidst a rapidly ageing population and a growing number of individuals living in solitude, we are confronted with the complex task of expanding care-giving services. The scarcity of available workforce, combined with the reluctance to engage in geriatric environments and the alarming burnout rates among family caregivers, further compounds these challenges.

This topic will present the reasons behind embracing proven smart technologies as a cost-effective solution, providing security for seniors and relieving caregiver burdens in diverse settings. Furthermore, it will delve into, how the exploration of integrating machine learning models in smart healthcare holds promise for early detection of health issues in isolated elderly individuals, enabling timely intervention. Through the synergistic integration of technology and compassionate care, we endeavor to establish smarter and safer place for our seniors to live in.

Abstract:  This topic will focus on the synergy of NYP’s successful partnerships and real-life collaborations between healthcare providers, community organizations, and technology companies, resulting in enhanced healthcare solutions and outcomes, furthermore, showcasing the holistic benefits of NYP360 and how the participants can leverage on it.  

The session will culminate on a sharing on the $70 million NTUC Company Training Committee (CTC) Grant that serves to support entities with CTCs by co-funding their proposals to raise productivity, redesign jobs and improve work prospects. Applicants that are looking to transform their business process, redesign jobs for workers and uplift productivity can tap on the new grant to bring about enterprise and workforce transformation. This grant is administered by the NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute Pte Ltd (NTUC e2i).

Mr. Tan Kwang Cheak

Kwang Cheak started his career in the Singapore Public Service and spent more than a decade in the Singapore Administrative Service, serving in various appointments in the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Manpower and JTC Corporation. He subsequently joined McDonald’s Singapore as Senior Director for Operations, Business Planning and Human Resources, and was also the Director for Human Resources and Talent Development in MOH Holdings, the holding company for the public healthcare clusters in Singapore. Prior to joining AIC, he was the Chief Human Resources Officer at NTUC FairPrice Cooperative Ltd in Singapore.

William is currently working in Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) overseeing the learning, organisational development, and innovation areas. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (NUS) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Surrey (UK). In KWSH, William provides strategic development and management of the Community Training Institute which is the largest Learning Institute in the Community Care sector. The Hospital is appointed as the SkillsFuture Queen Bee to spearhead digital training & mentorships for the Community Care sector since 2020 and received the SkillsFuture Employer Award (Gold) in 2022 which is a national recognition for employers that champion skills development and promote lifelong learning. In 2023, William received the People Matters & CoachHub Top L&D Leader Award (Southeast Asia). Outside of work, William enjoys volunteering in community-driven initiatives and exploring new cuisines during his travels.

Mr. Jeremy Lim

Jeremy is wildly passionate about taking care of seniors' needs and has always cared about social and community issues and finding solutions to tackle them. He is also the President at Lions Club of Singapore Forest.  Over his 15 years of community service, mostly with the seniors, he understands the challenges faced by them. With his vast experience in smart technology, he innovates practical, cost effective, non-invasive technological solutions to address the social challenge.

Together with his team, they started the "Never Alone" project to help take care of the low-income seniors who are staying alone. The technological solutions are already deployed in HDB flats and private assisted living facility. With his bubbly and outgoing personality, forming partnerships with social service agencies and community partners has been a forte for him, and he hopes that every senior will never be alone.

Melvyn is responsible for the overall visioning, functioning and performance of Nanyang Polytechnic’s Centre for Industry & Lifelong Learning (CIL3), providing day-to-day leadership and direction with respect to policies and planning of Continuing Education & Training (CET) programmes, technology transfer and industry collaboration activities. He directs the department's work with staff, learners and industry partners to ensure that the Polytechnic achieves its goal in areas of offering quality education in CET as well as co-creating with industry for growth and sustainability.

Sylvia has been creating an impact on the employment and employability of Singaporean jobseekers and working professionals through creation, development, and delivery of integrated employment solutions and forging strong partnerships with employers, government agencies, training, industry, and community partners within the healthcare sector. Prior to supporting workers and companies within the healthcare sector, Sylvia has been with e2i since 2011 creating employment solutions and establishing partnership with industry players to place new entrants and upskilling workers within the financial services and hospitality sectors.
